Resident Engineer
DUTIES:
Review proposed product changes and innovations to determine manufacturing feasibility and to then complete the necessary activities within the category to drive these changes from concept to implementation (15%). Directly lead over Internal PPAP control, Metrology, Regulatory Compliance and Energy Testing for Findlay Operations (5%). Perform the Manufacturing Lead function for all Cost and Quality Projects for dishwashers produced at Findlay Operation (5%). Lead business process improvement efforts to reduce the time required to implement changes to support Lean Manufacturing (5%). Lead cross-functional project planning (C2C, Customer to Customer Project Management) at all milestones and tollgates to ensure successful execution of changes (5%). Participate in Technical Design Previews at Project milestones and tollgates (15%). Provide thorough manufacturing assessments and input for reviews (15%). Drive effective communications between product engineering and all levels of Findlay's organization to successfully launch product changes (15%). Assist with completing business cases and resource planning for projects (2%). Serve as the Manufacturing Lead for all regulatory audits (3%). Drive resolution to any observations or findings (3%). Support WCM and lead EPI actions for the EPM Pillar (5%). Work with the Category Engineering team to update ACU Programs as changes are required (2%). Supervise seven (7) direct reports holding the titles: Energy Engineering Lab Technician, Area Coordinator, Metrology Technician, and Senior Industrial Engineering Technician (5%). Work from home permitted 2 weeks per year. Travel required within the U.S. once per month.
REQUIREMENTS :
Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related Engineering field plus 2 years of experience in the offered position or closely related occupation.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :
- 2 years of experience in high volume manufacturing specifically involving refrigeration and dishwasher systems.
- 2 years of experience leading cross-functional projects to drive quality and process improvements within plastic processing (thermoforming and injection molding) and metal fabrication (stamping and pressing) workstreams.
- 2 years of QC pillar experience.
- 1 year of experience leading quality teams in a manufacturing environment.
Must possess expertise/knowledge sufficient to adequately perform the duties of the job being offered. Expertise/knowledge may be gained through employment experience or education. Such expertise/knowledge cannot be "quantified" by "time". Required expertise/knowledge includes:
- Expertise in WCM (World Class Manufacturing), Kaizen, QRQC (Quick Response Quality Control), and 8D problem-solving.
- Experience in DFMEA (Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis), PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), Control Plans, and Critical Parameter Management (CPM).
- Experience in leading NPI (New Product Introduction) safe launch plans and managing improvement projects.
- Expertise in developing, coordinating, and maintaining KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for quality.
- Experience in conducting the process stability and capability studies including MSE, Gage R&R in Minitab software.
- Experience in using QC Calc software to analyze process variation and implement statistical process control measures.
