About This Role
At Cincinnati Children's, we are seeking an experienced Teacher for Older Infants to join our team. As a key member of our early childhood education program, you will create a supportive and engaging environment for young children, fostering their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. To excel in this role, you will need strong communication skills to collaborate with parents and staff, as well as a solid understanding of child development principles. What You'll DoKey Responsibilities
- Effective Communication - Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents, colleagues, and regulatory agencies through clear documentation, regular communication, and accessible support. This includes writing daily reports, lesson plans, newsletters, and professional development plans that showcase our program's strengths and areas for growth.
- Child Assessment - Cultivate a deep understanding of each child's development by utilizing progress reports, screening instruments, direct observation, and input from families and other stakeholders. Collaborate with the classroom team to interpret and implement assessment results, ensuring each child receives tailored support and opportunities for growth.
- Regulatory Compliance - Stay informed about and adhere to NAEYC's Code of Ethics, city and state regulations, and accreditation requirements governing early education and care programs. Ensure accurate completion of Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) documentation and adhere to food service rules, attending necessary training sessions.
- Program Improvement - Contribute to the continuous improvement of our program by suggesting areas for enhancement, implementing new procedures, collecting data, and participating in department discussions. Work closely with the classroom lead to maintain budget targets by recommending purchases, staffing structures, and process efficiencies.
- Child Development Expertise - Collaborate with the team to design, implement, and communicate engaging activities that support the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development of our children. Provide responsive, developmentally appropriate care by using inquiry, redirection, verbalizing feelings, encouraging problem-solving, and setting consistent limits to help children develop inner control. Maintain and demonstrate a deep understanding of child development principles and evidence-based practices.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Preferred: Certification in first aid, recognizing child abuse & recognition of common childhood diseases
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year of work experience in a related job discipline
