Day Camp Coordinator
The City of Miamisburg is accepting applications for the Day Camp Coordinator for the Parks and Recreation Department.
The Day Camp Coordinator supports the operation of camp programs by planning, coordinating, implementing, and supervising all activities within their assigned camp group. The Day Camp Coordinator will develop and execute a variety of summer day camp programming for ages varying from 3.5 to 12 years. This role oversees a staff of Camp Recreation Team Members and provides mentorship for counselors in training aged 13 to 14. A strong enthusiasm for working with children, spending time outdoors, and embracing daily adventure is essential. This seasonal position works a variety of hours, and the schedule varies by the camp offering and availability.
Compensation
Compensation for this position is $13.00 to $16.00 per hour. DOQ.

The Day Camp Coordinator will be thoroughly committed to the Miamisburg Parks and Recreation mission. All candidates should have proven leadership skills and a strong desire to work with youth. The Day Camp Coordinator will oversee the development and execution of our summer day camp program. A minimum of two (2) years of camp experience or the equivalent including leadership in a youth development role, for example, coaching, student teaching, and childcare.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must Obtain CPR/First Aid Certification through the Parks & Recreation Department.
- Must be 18 years old or older
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
- Possess a valid State of Ohio driver’s license*.
- Must be available evenings and weekend hours.
- Must complete mandatory training May 18th-29th, 2026
Professional Skills
- Awareness of applicable state, federal and local ordinances, laws, rules, and regulations.
- Ability to supervise, train, motivate, and evaluate camp counselors and staff
- Program planning & organization of age-appropriate activities and schedules
- Understanding developmental stages, behavior management, and inclusive practices
- Ensuring camper safety, enforcing policies, and responding to emergencies
- Implementing positive discipline strategies and conflict resolution
- Maintaining attendance, incident reports, and compliance records
Soft Skills
- Clear, professional communication with staff, campers, parents, and administrators.
- Handling conflicts, behavior issues, and unexpected situations calmly
- Balancing multiple responsibilities and maintaining daily schedules
- Adjusting plans due to weather, staffing changes, or camper needs
- Must maintain certifications and licensure as a condition of employment.
