The Summit Role:
The General Manager serves as the Base Camp Commander , responsible for the overall financial peak, logistical efficiency, and the disciplined culture of our operation. This is a hands-on leadership role where the GM will actively manage the service drive alongside their executive duties. You will lead every aspect of the climb, from managing the route-to-profitability (P&L) and optimizing our ascent plans, to fostering strong client relationships and developing our Sherpa Crew.
Key Responsibilities: Charting the Ascent:
Financial & Peak Performance Management:
- Charting the Route: Manage and control the entire P&L, including budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation to ensure a clear path to the summit.
- Measuring Altitude Gain (KPIs): Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) like Average Repair Order (ARO), labor efficiency, and profit margins to adjust the route and identify areas for a quicker ascent.
- Driving the Climb: Develop and implement strategies to drive sales growth in both labor and parts, pushing the team to reach new financial peaks.
Base Camp Compensation & Payroll:
- Manage the Ascent Pay: Oversee and execute the bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll process for all personnel (both hourly and salary) using the payroll system.
- Time Clock Verification: Ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of technician time logs and labor hours against repair orders for payroll and productivity analysis.
- Compliance & Records: Ensure all payroll deductions, benefits contributions, and tax reporting are accurate and compliant with federal and state regulations.
- Commission Tracking: Accurately track and calculate commissions, spiffs, and performance bonuses for the Service Advisor and Technical teams.
Operational Logistics & Gear Check (Including Service Advisor Duties):
- Front-Line Command: Act as the primary Service Advisor ; greeting customers, actively listening to vehicle concerns, and translating those needs into accurate repair orders for the technical team.
- Advising the Route: Prepare accurate estimates, present recommended services, and effectively communicate complex technical information to customers in an understandable way.
- Expedition Command: Oversee the Technical Team to ensure smooth, efficient workflow—from vehicle check-in to the final descent and delivery.
- Quality Control Check: Maintain rigorous standards of quality control for all repairs, ensuring every piece of equipment is reliable for the journey ahead.
- Safe Harbor: Ensure the shop operates in compliance with all safety, environmental, and legal regulations, maintaining a secure Base Camp environment.
Rope Team Leadership & Development:
- Mentorship: Recruit, hire, train, and mentor all shop personnel (Technicians, Service Advisors, Parts Managers), developing them into a highly skilled, high-altitude Sherpa Crew .
- Strong Line: Foster a positive, professional, and high-accountability work environment where the entire team is tied into a single, supportive line.
- Climbing School: Conduct regular performance reviews and implement training programs to improve team skills and retention.
Client Ascent & Safe Return:
- Final Authority: Act as the final point of contact for complex customer issues, ensuring quick and effective resolution and a safe return for the client.
- Client Satisfaction Metrics: Monitor Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) scores, ensuring every client feels prepared and confident in their vehicle after leaving Base Camp.
Qualifications:
Experienced Climber:
- 5+ years of progressive management experience in the automotive repair, dealership, or fleet maintenance industry—you’ve been on many successful expeditions.
- Direct, proven experience as a high-performing Service Advisor is mandatory.
- Proven track record of managing a successful P&L and achieving ambitious financial goals—you know how to chart a profitable course.
- Strong technical aptitude and working knowledge of automotive repair principles and operations—you know the gear intimately.
- Demonstrated experience managing payroll, timekeeping, and labor efficiency.
- Exceptional leadership, coaching, and communication skills—you can lead a rope team through any weather.
- Proficiency with shop management software (R.O. Writer) and spreadsheets.
- A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Compensation and Provisions:
- Competitive Annual Salary: $80,000 - $120,000
