Job Title: Member Service Representative
Location: 1200 East Market Street, Akron, OH 44305
Duration: 3+ Months (Possibility of extension)
Pay Type: $19/hr on W2
Summary of Position:
The Customer Service Representative provides personalized service to members, promptly addressing inquiries and resolving concerns related to enrollment, benefits, eligibility, billing, claims, and authorizations. This position requires excellent communication, empathy, and multitasking skills in a fast-paced call center or administrative environment. The role coordinates with management and other departments to ensure effective and timely service delivery to members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personalized service to members by phone, email, or in person regarding benefits, eligibility, billing, and claims inquiries.
- Accurately record and document all member interactions in the tracking system, ensuring appropriate follow-up and routing.
- Meet or exceed departmental productivity and quality performance standards.
- Deliver a professional, empathetic, and service-oriented experience in every interaction.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Medicare, health insurance industry practices, and internal systems such as Amisys and Macess .
- Exercise sound judgment and problem-solving to resolve member issues efficiently.
- Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
- Manage time effectively to complete assigned tasks in a fast-paced call center environment.
- Maintain confidentiality of member health and business information at all times.
- Adhere to all regulatory, departmental, and company policies and procedures while performing job duties with integrity and professionalism.
Experience: 1+ Year in Customer Service (Healthcare/Insurance Preferred)
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- College coursework preferred
Experience:
- 1+ year of experience performing similar customer service or administrative support duties
- Prior experience in a call center, Medicare, or health insurance environment strongly preferred
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong customer service and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Proficiency with Windows and computer-based systems; strong keyboarding skills
- Ability to operate standard office equipment (PC, headset, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to learn and apply health insurance industry knowledge
- Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities
- Professional, empathetic, and customer-first attitude in all interactions
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA regulations
- Flexible and comfortable working remotely or adjusting work hours as needed
Physical Demands:
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods
- Manual dexterity to operate computer and phone equipment
- Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs
