College Recruiter and Enrollment Management Specialist
DISTINGUISHING JOB CHARACTERISTICS
Promotes SSCC to prospective secondary school students. Coordinates presentations, on-campus events and campus visits. Coordinate and conducts informational presentations for local middle schools, high schools, and businesses. Represents the College at community events. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must perform essential duties to expected performance standards. Implements innovative recruitment and retention strategies (social media, web technologies, etc). Provides analysis and continual assessment of recruitment operations. Participates in planning and effectively implements recruitment strategies to accomplish goals. Participates in the event planning efforts to welcome students, guests and constituents to the College. Promotes College programs and disseminates appropriate information. Works closely with the Director of Marketing on campaigns and materials. Networks with community agencies, organizations, to coordinate and facilitate resource fairs, information sessions and campus connections. Collaborates with Workforce Development regarding recruitment of non-traditional students. Plans and facilitates new student orientation. Coordinates information and orders supplies and materials to be provided. Schedules rooms at each campus. Develops orientation brochure. Conducts reminders call to students. Inputs orientation information into student information system. Completes orientation follow-up. Conducts high school counselor luncheon. Visits local schools and businesses to promote SSCC to interested prospective students. Staffs information booth. Distributes information packets, brochures and other materials to high school counselors and other constituents. Attends local and surrounding college and career fairs. Responds to reply cards collected at fairs. Maintains contacts file of secondary students who complete reply cards. Manages set up and staffing of informational booth at county fairs and other events. Coordinates booth design, establishes schedule, supplies booth with informational material, promotional items and giveaways. Composes letters and sends material to prospective students and parents. Responds to email inquiries sent to [email protected] and program specific info requests Conducts campus tours for prospective students and their parents. Assembles SSCC information packets to be distributed during campus visits. Composes and sends follow up letters. Distributes registrations guides and other College literature to local businesses and schools. Composes customized letters to accompany schedules. Arranges presentations at high schools to present SSCC general information and College Credit Plus (or similar early college program) information. Coordinates calendar with state guidelines and prepares materials for presentations. Maintains database of information regarding local high school counselors, principals and superintendents. Maintains confidentiality of confidential or sensitive records and information. Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and punctual attendance and works overtime as required to meet workload demands. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs other related duties as required. SCOPE OF SUPERVISION None CONFIDENTIAL DATA Student and other information covered by FERPA guidelines and agreed to in the College's FERPA Confidentiality Agreement; staff and faculty addresses. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of: principles and procedures for recruiting high school aged prospective college students; SSCC programs and courses; enrollment procedures, tuition costs, class size, and scholarship and financial aid information; standard office practices and procedures; English grammar, spelling, sentence structure and punctuation; business letter and reporting formats. Ability to: maintain and promote good public relations; maintain confidential and sensitive information; exhibit a pleasant public manner and telephone etiquette; originate correspondence; work independently; exhibit attention to detail; originate an attractive and functional typing format; organize and file documents according to alphabetical, numerical and subject order; apply ethical standards to work situations; make work decisions in accordance with SSCC's values; show respect and sensitivity for cultural differences, and promote an harassment-free environment; embrace and support constructive change; work efficiently and effectively to improve college operations; consistently follow safety and security procedures and practices; develop and maintain effective working relationships with students, learning community, associates and general public; contribute toward building a positive team working environment; treat others with respect as representative of SSCC. Skill in: recruiting; public speaking; organizing and coordinating programs; typing; application of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and Outlook; application of the student information system, and other job related software; operation of standard office equipment; office organization; creating functional and professional electronic report formats; verbal and written communications. QUALIFICATIONS An appropriate combination of education, training, course work and experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of an acceptable qualification is: Associate's degree in related field with six months to one year related experience in public relations. Applicant must successfully pass required background checks, in accordance with Southern State Community College's policies and procedures and applicable laws. Ability to document identity and employment eligibility as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements. LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS State Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
