Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team in Cleveland, Ohio. This contract position offers an opportunity to contribute your expertise to financial operations for a minimum of 2-3 months, with potential for extension. The role includes a hybrid work schedule, providing flexibility and the necessary resources to succeed. Responsibilities: - Prepare and review corporate tax returns and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations. - Handle sales tax filings and maintain accurate records for reporting purposes. - Create and manage journal entries to support accurate financial reporting. - Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all accounts are reconciled and properly documented. - Utilize QuickBooks Online to manage financial transactions and reporting efficiently. - Collaborate with team members to support nonprofit-specific accounting needs. - Assist in audits and provide documentation as needed for financial reviews. - Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records promptly. - Provide support for budgeting and forecasting processes. - Ensure timely and accurate reporting to stakeholders and supervisors. Requirements - Proven experience in corporate tax, sales tax, and related financial processes. - Proficiency in QuickBooks Online is required. - A degree in accounting or a related field is preferred. - Must have prior experience beyond entry-level accounting roles. - Familiarity with nonprofit accounting principles is highly desirable. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting. - Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team.
