Part-Time Mental Health Billing Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Part-Time Mental Health Billing Specialist to join our growing behavioral health practice. This role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of therapy and behavioral health insurance billing who enjoys independent, focused work in a supportive office environment.
Position Details
- Part-time, on-site position
- Schedule: Flexible within standard business hours
- Pay: Based on experience
Key Responsibilities
- Submit, manage, and track mental health insurance claims
- Post payments and reconcile EOBs and ERAs
- Identify and resolve claim denials, underpayments, and rejections
- Verify benefits related to behavioral health services
- Manage secondary insurance and coordination of benefits
- Maintain accurate billing and financial records in the EHR
- Communicate with insurance companies regarding mental health claims
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff as needed
Required Qualifications
- Direct experience with mental health / behavioral health billing
- Knowledge of CPT codes, diagnoses, and payer rules specific to therapy services
- Familiarity with commercial insurance and Medicaid billing processes
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Comfortable working independently and meeting deadlines
- Experience with EHR or billing software (TherapyNotes experience a plus)
