Summary

The Undergraduate Statistics Tutor will support students enrolled in BA 3800 through individualized tutoring sessions and course-aligned academic support. The tutor will work closely with the course instructor(s) to stay informed about course topics, assignments, and expectations, and will help students gain confidence and understanding in statistical concepts through engaging, supportive, and well-informed interactions.

Essential Functions

• Provide tutoring for students in BA 3800 through scheduled sessions.
• Review homework assignments and answer keys in advance to prepare for student questions and confirm student solutions.
• Access and review the Canvas course page to stay informed about course content, deadlines, and instructor expectations.
• Coordinate regularly with the course instructor(s) to align tutoring sessions with course objectives and schedules.
• Create a welcoming, encouraging, and accessible learning environment that helps students enjoy and succeed in the subject.
• Communicate proactively with the instructor regarding any absences, including illness or conflicts, in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong performance in BA 3800 or related statistics courses.
• Enthusiasm for teaching and helping others learn complex material.
• Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Dependable, professional, and committed to student success.

Additional Information

• This position requires an ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with the course instructor. A proactive approach to preparation and student engagement is essential.
