As a pivotal member of our dental team, you will be collaborating closely with our Expanded Functions Dental Assistants (EFDAs), Hygienists, and Dentists. This role is hands-on and requires a proactive approach to assist in all aspects of dental care and office efficiency. The position will require the candidate to be actively engaged in the physical setup and tear-down of operational equipment, providing patient care, and maintaining stringent hygiene standards.
Duties and Responsibilities- Assist the EFDA, Hygienist, and Dentist during a variety of treatment procedures.
- Provide direct support with dental procedures including preparation and management of dental instruments and supplies.
- Ensure all treatment areas are fully equipped and stocked with necessary supplies and materials.
- Engage and build rapport with patients, making them feel comfortable before, during, and after dental treatment.
- Take dental radiographs (x-rays) as required.
- Manage infection control - prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment.
- Provide patients with follow-up care instructions after dental treatment.
- Assist with front office tasks as needed to ensure smooth operations throughout the dental office.
- Participate in the training of new staff and contribute to team meetings and activities.
- Maintain patient dental records; update records and document treatments.
- Handle sensitive and confidential patient information responsibly.
- Contribute to the overall success of the dental office by providing excellent customer service and fostering a pleasant work environment.
- Current Dental Assistant certification as per state regulations.
- Active CPR certification.
- Qualified in Radiology and able to produce high-quality dental radiographs.
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant; minimum of 2 years preferred.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology and procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interact effectively with both patients and team members.
- Meticulous organizational skills.
- Capability to work in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.
- Demonstrated ability to follow through with clinical tasks and objectives.
- High standard of personal hygiene and professional presentation.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize and be flexible with changing healthcare needs in a dental environment.
- Dedication to maintaining confidentiality of all patient records.
