Plant Piping Systems Mechanic

Barberton, OH | Day Shift (Mon–Fri, 7:00 am – 3:00 pm)

Why this role

• $33.62/hour starting pay
• $1,000 sign-on : $500 at 90 days + $500 at 180 days
• $1,000 retention at 12 months
• All expenses paid to obtain your 6G Weld Certificate

What you’ll do

• Use arc/gas welding and flame-cutting equipment to weld plates and pipe in multiple positions
• Work from sketches, prints, P&IDs, operation sheets, and written/verbal instructions
• Select pipe sizes/materials, supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders to meet specs
• Plan installations and repairs to avoid obstructions and coordinate with other trades
• Fabricate/modify process piping and equipment
• Cut pipe (saws, pipe cutter, hammer/chisel, cutting torch, pipe-cutting machine)
• Thread pipe (threading machines); bend pipe (benders/machinery)
• Assemble/install metal and non-metal piping using threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints and hand tools
• Prepare pipe ends per weld procedures and welder preference
• Pressure up systems and monitor gauges for testing
• Weld pipe supports and structural steel as needed
• Observe production machinery in assigned areas to detect malfunctions as needed
• Use respiratory protection devices when required
• Comply with safety and project rules; drive 5S standards for safety, cleanliness, and efficiency
• Maintain/repair rotating and fixed equipment plant-wide
• Execute preventive maintenance within pipefitting scope; additional duties as assigned

What you bring

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent technical training
• 1–4 years of experience in an industrial or similar environment
• Basic blueprint reading skills
• Ability to pass a 6G welding test (Vertical Stick & TIG) and earn certification within 6 months of start (required condition of employment)
