Road Department Operator/Laborer

The Plain Township Board of Trustees is accepting applications for the position of full-time Operator/Laborer in the Road Department.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Seeking a self-motivated individual for the maintenance, repair, and inspection of all township roadways. This position is on a 24 hour call out basis for snow and ice removal and other storm related emergencies.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRMENTS

• Applicants must be a United States Citizen
• Must have High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a valid Ohio CDL Class B with air-brake endorsement and the ability to obtain a Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement within 1 year of employment is required. (Plain Township is an approved training facility)
• Must have knowledge in the following, operating various equipment and dump trucks, concrete work, catch basins, installing and repairing storm sewers, asphalt related work, and snowplowing.
• Must pass pre-employment DOT physical and drug/alcohol screening.
• Must be honest, dependable, and trustworthy.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement.
• Experience in snow plowing and de-icing.
• Experience with operating various construction equipment.

The Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Plain Township Board of Trustees and the UWUA Local 561 determines the salary for this position.

• Starting Hourly Wage: $23.66 with a Class A CDL and Tanker endorsement, $22.91 without a Class A CDL and Tanker endorsement.
