Civil/Sitework Construction Estimator

Independence Excavating is looking for an experienced, dedicated, and enthusiastic Construction professional to join our team. The Civil/Sitework Construction Estimator is responsible for estimating, proposal development, and assembling complete bid packages for assigned construction projects.

A typical project looks like:

• Reading, understanding, and interpreting drawings and specifications
• Soliciting quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, estimate to be 95% complete prior to formal review with Chief Estimator
• Preparing a rough project schedule for determining the time frame
• Preparing competitive job estimates by interpreting drawings and bid documents and performing takeoffs for labor, equipment, and materials
• Reviewing estimated productions with superintendents to finalize the bid
• Other duties as assigned per project

Do you have what it takes?

• High School Diploma or equivalent required. Undergraduate Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering, and 5-yrs experience in the construction industry preferred.
• Experience in public and private civil construction projects, i.e. sitework, underground utilities, excavation/grading, retaining walls, and culverts. Experience in structural concrete, concrete paving, bridges, and piling is not required but encouraged.
• A successful track record of estimating civil construction projects
• Have a working knowledge of means and methods/constructability, crew composition, and production rates.
• Clear understanding of risk management and mitigation
• Proficient in HCSS Heavy Bid estimating software is preferred, but not required.
