Position Location:

This position is located in our Cleveland, Ohio office.

Job Overview:

Responsible for performing alarm and patrol duties in assigned areas to protect life and property against theft, misappropriation, vandalism, fire, flood, or similar disaster.

Responsibilities:

Essential Job Duties:

• Ensure the physical security of buildings and property by checking doors, windows, lights, electrical appliances, equipment, locks, and emergency equipment. Maintain a log of findings and corrective action taken.
• Assist in reception functions and maintain the visitor control area. Act as switchboard operator as required.
• Monitor and direct urinalyses and Breathalyzer as required.
• Assist in the coordination of transporting ill or injured students as required.
• Respond to fire alarms, take necessary steps to report fires, assist in suppressing fires, and reset fire alarm equipment.
• Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices and OSHA standards. Ensure proper student/visitor checkout and procedures are followed.
• Cultivate and maintain a climate at the Center, which is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect, to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
• Promote student attainment of career success standards through modeling appropriate skills, mentoring students, monitoring skill acquisition, and intervening when inappropriate behavior is observed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Completing all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.
• Timely and cost-effective performance of duties.
• Communicating effectively verbally and in writing with all levels of Center staff and students.
• Ability to develop rapport and positive working relationships with all departments.
• Timely completion and accuracy of all departmental work.
• Dealing with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
• Adherence to established company safety policies and ability to work in a safe manner, using any required personal protective equipment (PPE) as may be required.
• Compliance with company standard operating procedures and personnel policies and procedures.

Job Requirements:

Mandatory:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• One (1) year of experience with an organized security department, law enforcement agency, or experience with security duties.
• Successfully pass a background check and drug test required on the contract.
• Valid driver’s license, with an acceptable driving record.

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Basic reading and math proficiency
• Able to work rotating shifts to include nights, weekends and holidays (if applicable)
• Physical ability to patrol, stand for long periods, respond to incidents, and conduct security checks
• Authorized to work in the United States

Preferred:

• Previous experience in law enforcement.
• Training with an organized security department.

Working Conditions:

• This is a full-time non-exempt position that may require working nights and weekends.
• The successful candidate must also have the ability to work in various temperatures and a position requiring standing and sitting for prolonged periods of time.

Physical Requirements:

• While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, and/or walk for long periods at a time, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, or smell.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
