Our Financial Services EY EDGE practice is made up of a team of professionals providing dedicated tax technical services to both US and global clients. EDGE stands for Exceptional Delivery and Growth Engine because this team operates in a technical environment with deep process and service delivery experience that distinguishes EY in the marketplace. EY's State and Local ("SALT") team is a growing practice within the organization, and you'll see that growth reflected in your career. As a Tax Senior Manager, you'll see the financial services industry by being immersed in the evolving state and local tax environment through a diverse set of experiences in serving hedge fund, private equity, banking and real estate clients. Your Key Responsibilities It's fair to say there's no average day for a State and Local Tax Senior Manager – so you're likely to spend your time on a diverse array of projects, responsibilities and tasks, including state tax partnership compliance, tax planning, consulting and legislative developments. Whatever you're working on, our clients will turn to you for up-to-the-minute tax advice they can always rely on. To make that happen, you'll be working in a highly collaborative culture, where listening to and sharing information with colleagues is an essential part of the role.- Analyzing an evolving portfolio of complex tax operations to provide meaningful business insights
- Identifying potential opportunities and risks and communicating these to our clients
- Learning and researching current market trends, to maintain your credibility as a trusted advisor
- Developing clear, intelligent plans and approaches to improve our clients' tax activities
- Researching our clients' business operations and building long-lasting relationships to tailor your advice to their specific needs
- Supervising a motivated team of professionals, guaranteeing they have the skills, knowledge and opportunities to reach their full potential
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline
- CPA, licensed Attorney or EA
- A minimum of 8 years professional knowledge in a broad range of state and local Income/Franchise tax processes, concepts and tools
- Experience managing budgets, people and projects
- A proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization
- Technical writing and research experience in a tax context
- The ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects
- Strong influencing skills, and the confidence to question existing processes
- A proven record in a professional services environment or in-house experience in a wealth and asset management company
- Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Excel, One Source Tax Compliance Software, Corptax, and/or Premium Pro
- Experience in coaching and mentoring junior colleagues
- Ability to adapt your work style to work with both internal and client team members
- We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $132,700 to $303,200. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $159,300 to $344,600. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
- Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
