As a key leader in our Accounting and Financial Reporting group, the Construction Controller will work with the other members of the group, other finance leaders and operational people to support all aspects of accounting, reporting and analysis for their respective company or companies.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Construction Controller:

• Accountant(s), and Construction Administrator staff to ensure compliance with day-to-day policies and procedures and cost accounting.
  


• Responsible for the preparation of individual and monthly combined contract statuses to review the financial position of all open jobs.
  


• Responsible for reconciling accounts payable, accounts receivables, cash reconciliation, bank transactions and purchase orders.
  


• Tracking license renewals, tax payments, vendor setup, fixed asset setup, and using tax accruals.
  


• Review and post monthly journal entries in support of accounting transactions and consolidation requirements.
  


• Provide accounting and reconciliation support to the specific company(s)/division(s) covered and their monthly, quarterly, and yearly close procedures.
  


• Perform monthly P&L review for needed accruals/comparison and trend analysis.
  


• Create and analyze financial reports from Sage Accounting System (Timberline).
  


• Perform and/or review general ledger account reconciliations in support of internal control procedures.
  


• Complete special project assignments and perform other duties as assigned.

  Jointly responsible with the Division Manager for the review and collection of Accounts Receivable.

Qualifications of the Construction Controller:

• 
  Required: High school diploma or GED.


• Required: 5+ years of construction experience.
  


• 
  Required: Deep understanding of construction accounting, construction industry.


• Preferred: 5+ years of prior controller or assistant controller experience.
  


• 
  Preferred: Undergraduate Degree in Accounting.


• Preferred: Experience in general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
  


• Preferred: Experience in the construction industry and Percentage of Completion/Cost to Cost accounting.
  


• Preferred: Deep understanding of construction insurance, bonding requirements, lien laws and sales tax for contractors.
  


• 
  Required: Highly proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word.


• Manager experience in public accounting will satisfy experience requirement.
