Associate Attorney
Job Description
Job Description
Pay: $80,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
WHY THIS IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY
- Step into a well-established firm with two decades of service to the Miami Valley — your work will have real impact on real people and businesses in the community
- Build a genuinely broad practice: civil litigation, small business representation, probate, and estate planning — ideal for an attorney who wants depth across multiple areas rather than a narrow specialty
- Work alongside experienced attorneys in a collegial, team-oriented environment that values mentorship and collaboration
- Competitive salary with performance bonus potential
- A firm that has earned lasting client relationships across generations — and takes pride in it
- No billable-hours grind for its own sake — this is a place where the work is meaningful and the culture reflects it
- Dayton, OH: affordable cost of living, manageable commutes, and a community that values its professionals
Location: This is a full-time, on-site position based in Dayton, OH. We are a hands-on team that thrives on in-person collaboration — this role is best suited to candidates already living in the area or fully committed to relocating independently.
Note: Candidates must be licensed to practice law in Ohio (Ohio Bar admission required). This role is not open to candidates who require relocation assistance. Please apply only if you meet this requirement.
About Us
We are a full-service civil law firm with nearly 20 years of service to individuals, families, and businesses throughout the Miami Valley. Our team handles a diverse range of matters — from civil litigation and personal injury to business law, probate, and estate planning — and we take pride in delivering high-quality, client-focused legal work in a collegial, collaborative environment. Confidential Employer.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Handle a civil litigation caseload from intake through resolution — drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, preparing for depositions, and appearing in court
- Advise and represent small business clients on a range of legal matters including contracts, disputes, and general business counsel
- Assist clients with probate administration and contested estate matters
- Draft and review estate planning documents including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and related instruments
- Conduct thorough legal research and produce clear, well-reasoned written work product
- Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex, multi-issue matters
- Communicate directly with clients, providing timely updates and sound legal guidance
- Manage deadlines and competing priorities across an active docket
QUALIFICATIONS
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- 1+ years of experience in civil litigation (general practice experience with probate/estate planning and/or small business work a plus)
- Active Ohio Bar admission (required)
- Strong legal research, writing, and oral communication skills
- Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a collaborative team environment
- Ability to manage an active caseload independently
WHY YOU WILL LOVE WORKING HERE
This is not a BigLaw pressure cooker — it is a firm where attorneys are trusted, respected, and given the room to grow. You will work across a genuinely varied practice, develop real client relationships, and contribute to a team that has been serving the same community for nearly 20 years. The Miami Valley is a great place to build a career and a life, and this firm is a respected part of it. If you are a motivated attorney looking for meaningful work, a supportive team, and the chance to build real skills across multiple practice areas, this is the right place.
