About Us

We are a fourth-generation, family-owned Garden Center, Florist & Event Venue in the heart of Cincinnati. Benken is a thriving operation—about 20 fulltime teammates plus up to 30 seasonal colleagues—serving the floral and horticultural needs of Greater Cincinnati and beyond. Our floral team includes 4–5 fulltime designers supported by office staff and inhouse delivery drivers, all working together in a creative, collaborative environment.

The Position

Lead the design room and team to ensure efficient production and guarantee excellent customer service. Oversee seasonal and holiday planning while staying current with modern floral trends. Ensure wedding and sympathy production meets the highest standards. Combine creative direction with administrative and process leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the floral team: assign roles, manage schedules, coverage, performance, and daily expectations.
• Oversee production: handle call-ins, standing and retail orders; coordinate large/special orders (funerals, weddings, parties).‑ins
• Design custom work: create arrangements for weddings, funerals, events, holidays, and seasonal retail; manage wedding production separately.
• Inventory & workspace: order and steward stock to maximize freshness, minimize waste, plan for peak/seasonal periods, and maintain an organized cooler/work area.
• Cross-department coordination: collaborate on pricing, website/product accuracy, deliveries; lead training/mentorship/classes; other duties as assigned.‑department coordination:

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of floral experience skilled in classic, contemporary, and hybrid design.
• Organized multitasker with strong communication and leadership skills.
• Passion for flowers, service, staff development, and self-development.
• Able to lift 50 lbs. and stand through busy days.
• Detail-oriented, adaptable, deadline-driven — and enjoys creative fun.
