Financial Analyst
Financial Analyst
Muskingum University invites applications for a Financial Analyst. This position is a key contributor to the University’s financial planning and decision-making processes. The Financial Analyst will work closely with the AVP for Finance and Controller to support institution-wide budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and accounting functions.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze financial performance, identify variances, and recommend actions.
- Prepare reports and analysis to inform leadership decision-making.
- Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis for strategic initiatives and university projects.
- Support the pursuit and successful execution of grants.
- Collaborate with departments to develop financial models and budgets.
- Partner with the accounting team on journal entries, month-end close, and audit support.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2 - 4 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, accounting, or a related field, or a demonstrated ability to perform the work.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to present financial data clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills, curiosity, and attention to detail.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in non-profit or higher education financial operations.
- Familiarity with financial reporting systems or ERP tools.
- Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, or Business.
