This position is for candidates already enrolled in an OPOTA Academy or those who already possess their OPOTA certification.

Pay Scale (2023):

Hire: $30.69 per hour
1 Year: $34.37 per hour
3 Years: $38.49 per hour
5 Years: $41.78 per hour
Candidates with prior experience may be placed into any pay step at the sole discretion of the Sheriff.

Application Process:

The application process consists of 3 steps. Please note that all of the following steps must be completed for an applicant to be considered for an interview:

Step 1: Complete an online application through the Delaware County career portal.

Step 2: After submitting your application, proceed to the National Testing Network site to complete the required testing. The department requires the Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ) to be completed. The PHQ must be completed to proceed in the hiring process.

Step 3: Attend the physical fitness testing.

Information regarding physical fitness testing will be sent via email.

A required part of the interview process for the position of Deputy Sheriff is the physical abilities test, which includes push-ups and sit-ups timed for 1 minute, and a 1.5-mile run, based on OPOTC age and gender standards.

Please note: Successful completion of the physical abilities test is required to be eligible for an interview. However, passing the physical test does not guarantee an invitation to interview.

Candidates who have previously applied must wait at least one year from their most recent interview to be eligible for re-interview.
