Job Title: Mechanical Designer

Job Description

The Mechanical Designer will collaborate closely with shop personnel to assist with the interpretation of engineering designs, create project bills of materials, and develop customer approval drawings. The role also involves requisitioning parts for purchase, quoting drawings, and performing various other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Review, plan, and estimate time on jobs.
• Create customer approval drawings.
• Layout, design, and detail CAD drawings.
• Requisition parts for purchase.
• Work closely with shop personnel to assist with the interpretation of engineering designs.
• Create project bills of materials.
• Quote drawings.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical design expertise.
• Mechanical engineering knowledge.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Associates Degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent work experience.
• At least 4 years of drafting experience, including sheet metal fabrication.
• Minimum of 2 years in switchgear design and CAD.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in the power distribution industry.
• Knowledge of sheet metal.

Work Environment

The position is based in a newer facility, which has recently undergone new renovations. The facility is very clean, safe, well-lit, and organized, with climate control. The standard shift is four 10-hour days, but there is flexibility, including occasional work on Fridays if required. The company is committed to long-term growth. The facility supports a growing industry with projects extending through the year 2028 and serves sectors like utilities, data centers, industrial automation, renewable energy, and commercial facilities

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Canton, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
