Electromechanical Test and Quality Specialist (Industrial Equipment)

What you’ll do
- Inspect and test equipment built at Powell facilities—visually, mechanically, and electrically—against Powell Standards and documented specs.
- Program/operate electronic test tools, including microprocessor-based relays.
- Energize Powell electrical products plus buyout gear: service panels, HVAC units, battery chargers, and UPS systems.
- Run tests with multimeters, clamp-on meters, voltage detectors, and Hi-Pot equipment.
- Investigate failures, perform root-cause analysis, and help implement corrective actions.
- Complete and maintain test and quality control documentation; support final inspection and release to shipping.
- Maintain test equipment and keep work areas clean, organized, and audit-ready.
- Collaborate across shop, engineering, sales, shipping, fabrication, PCR, and switchgear teams; engage with customers, suppliers, and Powell subsidiaries to resolve quality issues.
- Record engineering/shop discrepancies, non-conformities, and material shortages using Powell systems.
- Champion safety: follow procedures, wear required PPE, and attend safety meetings.
- Follow standard work instructions and flag risks to product quality.
- Grow your knowledge of basic electrical principles and related mechanical practices.
What you’ll bring
- High school diploma or GED; trade school diploma/certificate also welcomed.
- 1–3 years in a manufacturing environment.
- Blueprint literacy: specification sheets, wiring diagrams, schematics, three-line drawings, wiring lists, and part drawings.
- Preferred: quality inspection experience with electrical/electronic equipment or components.
- Preferred: intermediate familiarity with industry codes/standards and the ability to reference and apply them.

Where you’ll work
Environment
- Safety-sensitive role in a temperature-controlled industrial setting with occasional outdoor tasks.
- PPE required when specified: hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, harnesses, respirators.
- Office tasks at a desk/computer as needed.
- Work from step ladders, "A"-frame and extension ladders, plus scaffolding; typical heights up to 30 ft with proper lift equipment.
Physical demands
- Balance/agility to prevent falls while walking, standing, crouching, and navigating stairs.
- Frequent bending and repetitive reaching/extension of arms and hands.
- Extended standing and walking 50–300 feet with limited sitting.
- Frequent stair climbing during the shift.
- Regular overhead work and extended reach with both arms.
- Continuous application of upper-extremity force up to 50 lb.
- Use of hand/power tools (tin snips, hammer, vibrating tools) for long periods with frequent repetition.
