Description/Notes: PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Director of Accountability is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the district’s assessment and accountability systems, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, including those set by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). The Director oversees the planning, implementation, and analysis of state assessments, local testing, and other data collection systems to evaluate student performance and district effectiveness. The Director works closely with district and campus leaders, teachers, and district leaders to promote data-driven decision-making that supports continuous improvement and student success.
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
Master degree preferred
Valid Texas teaching certificate, with required endorsements for subject/level assigned Special Knowledge/Skills:
Deep understanding of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and accountability systems.
Strong knowledge of TEA accountability frameworks, including A–F Accountability, CCMR, Growth, and Closing the Gaps. Ability to analyze multiple data sources, identify trends and root causes, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
Skilled in connecting assessment results, instructional practices, and accountability outcomes to drive continuous improvement.
Ability to provide meaningful feedback and coaching aligned to district priorities, instructional expectations, and student achievement goals.
Strong communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
Proficient in the use of assessment, accountability, and data management systems. Experience:
Five years of experience in leadership roles preferred EVALUATION
Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with provision of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Oversee the implementation and compliance of district-wide accountability systems, including TEA accountability standards and Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR).
2. Ensure compliance with all state and federal accountability requirements, including ESSA.
3. Lead the administration of state and local assessment programs, including STAAR, TELPAS, and End-of-Course (EOC) assessments.
4. Develop and manage the district assessment calendar and testing processes.
5. Ensure the security, accuracy, and integrity of all assessment programs and testing materials.
6. Analyze district, campus, and student performance data to identify trends, determine root causes, and develop recommendations to improve student outcomes and accountability performance.
7. Monitor accountability indicators and provide regular reports and updates to district and campus leadership.
8. Present assessment and accountability data to district leadership, campus administrators, and the Board of Trustees.
9. Provide timely, actionable feedback and support to campus and district leaders regarding
instructional effectiveness, assessment performance, and accountability outcomes.
10. Collaborate with curriculum and instructional leaders to ensure alignment among assessment, accountability, curriculum, and instructional systems.
11. Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of district and campus improvement plans through data analysis and performance reviews.
12. Lead professional development related to accountability, assessment literacy, data analysis, and data-driven decision-making.
13. Train and support campus administrators and staff in the interpretation and use of assessment and accountability data.
14. Evaluate the effectiveness of instructional programs and initiatives using assessment and
accountability measures.
15. Serve as the district liaison for accountability and assessment matters with the Texas Education Agency and other external agencies.
16. Coordinate all required state and federal accountability and assessment reporting.
17. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all professional and ethical standards.
18. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee. Qualifications:
