PCU RN Job Details

• Location: Columbus, Ohio (43210) – Major university city with vibrant arts, dining, and cultural attractions
• Healthcare Setting: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – 10 BSH Stroke Unit
• Employment Type: Locum tenens, travel nursing contract
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 10/6/2025 – End: 1/5/2026)
• Nursing Shift: Night shifts, 3x12 hours per week (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1940-$1990
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Weekend & Holiday Coverage: Rotating weekdays, weekends, and holidays
• Floating: Required to float to other units within the OSU healthcare organization

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or Med-Surg RN experience
• Active RN license (compact or Ohio nursing license required)
• BLS certification required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
• Two professional references, including one from a manager/director or formal leadership
• Ability to complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly upon contract signing
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred

PCU RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients with stroke, neurological, and med-surg diagnoses
• Manage patient ratios of 1:4 during night shifts
• Float to different units within the OSU healthcare system as needed
• Administer and monitor cardiac drips, blood products, and specialized neuro procedures (e.g., TNK administration, lumbar drains)
• Utilize EPIC for documentation and patient management
• Perform wound care, IV starts, central and peripheral line management, and post-neurosurgery care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response
• Maintain strict compliance with infection control and isolation precautions
