Heat Treat Operator - All Shifts (Day, Evening, Night)

• Note: As a union-based employer, we are unable to guarantee any shift preference following initial training on day shift. Shift preference is granted by seniority. All candidates should expect to work afternoon shift or night shift at some point following initial training.

Day Shift: Monday – Friday: 7 AM to 3 PM

Afternoon Shift: Monday – Friday: 3 PM to 11 PM

Night Shift: Monday Night – Friday Night: 11 PM to 7 AM

Pay Rate: $25.25 per hour

Canton Drop Forge, a leading producer of large, closed die forgings in Canton, Ohio, is seeking a Heat Treat Operator to join our team. This role is responsible for the loading and unloading of large steel products into Heat Treatment furnaces, the operation of large tumble blast equipment, and the use of sandblasters as part of final operations. This role operates tow motors, hoists, and lifting devices, while working around hot products and furnaces.

General Responsibilities

• Transfer various fabricated steel forms to-and-from furnaces, containers, trays, and totes using hoist or by hand.
• Loading and unloading material from heat-treating furnaces.
• Abrades steel forgings using abrasive blasting equipment.
• Operates abrasive blasting equipment.
• Handling and operating various tools and equipment relating to processing.
• Operation of Powered Industrial Trucks, hoists, and lifting devices.
• Performing duties within the coordinated work effort of the steel receiving operation.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be able to read and write in English.
• Must be able to follow both verbal and written instructions.
• Must be able to work autonomously and as part of a team.
• Excellent oral communication.
• Follows all company policies and safety procedures.
• Ensure that all the parts being worked on are of the highest quality.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand majority of shift.
• Use of respirator masks and PPE suits for specified tasks.
• Job involves standing, walking, twisting, turning, reaching, bending, climbing steps, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds repeatedly during the day.
• Must be able to tolerate extreme heat in summer months and extreme cold during winter months.
