About Walgre Transport

Walgre Transport operates a fleet of over 150 trucks and 500 trailers throughout North America.

We are looking for a hands-on Shop Foreman / Lead Diesel Mechanic to help lead our maintenance operation in Columbus, Ohio.

This is not a desk job.

The successful candidate will lead technicians, diagnose complex issues, ensure quality repairs, and help maximize fleet uptime while working alongside the team when needed.

Responsibilities

Shop Leadership

• Lead and support diesel and trailer mechanics
• Assign daily work orders and priorities
• Ensure repairs are completed properly and on time
• Reduce rework and improve shop efficiency
• Maintain a safe and organized shop

Diagnostics & Repairs

• Diagnose advanced engine, electrical, and aftertreatment issues
• Assist technicians with difficult repairs
• Perform repairs when necessary
• Verify repair quality before equipment is released

Fleet Maintenance

• Oversee preventative maintenance program
• Monitor truck and trailer downtime
• Ensure DOT compliance
• Help improve fleet reliability and uptime

Team Development

• Train and mentor technicians
• Hold team members accountable for productivity and workmanship
• Promote a positive, professional work environment

Qualifications

Required

• 5+ years experience as a diesel mechanic
• Strong diagnostic skills
• Experience with:
• Cummins
• Detroit Diesel
• Volvo
• Electrical diagnostics
• Air brake systems
• Suspension systems
• DPF/aftertreatment systems
• Trailer repairs

Preferred

• Previous Foreman or Lead Technician experience
• CDL
• ASE Certifications
• Fleet maintenance experience
• Maintenance software experience
