The Microbiologist I independently conducts microbiological analyses of bulk products, raw materials, special samples, environmental samples including DI water, potable water, TOC analysis, air, and surface swab samples according to Pharmavite Standard Methods (PSM) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). The Microbiologist I report to the Quality Control Microbiology Leader.

Key Responsibilities

Critical contributions this role is counted on to deliver include:

o Performs microbiological testing using rapid and traditional methodology on raw materials, in-process materials, finished products and other samples according to Pharmavite Standard Methods or USP methods.

o Performs sampling, testing and other activities assigned in support of the site Environmental Monitoring program according to established Standard Operating Procedures and methods, as well as generating trend data from test results.

o Compliant with cGMP and all regulatory guidelines and perform microbial analyses by aseptic techniques.

o Immediately reports any out-of-specification (OOS) to team leader and supports microbiological test failure investigations (OOS) to determine the root cause for all test failures and communicate with management.

o Performs general laboratory duties including cleaning and maintenance of equipment, work areas, and cleaning of the microbiology laboratory.

Critical Success Factors

You’ll be most successful in this role if you have:

o Keen attention to detail, and ability to closely follow written procedures.

o Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with multiple levels of employees and across multiple functions.

o Working knowledge of microbiology techniques, safety and quality.

o A basic understanding of microbiology practice and theory gained through academic study and/or prior lab experience.

o Prior laboratory, GMP and use of LIMS program experience is a plus.

Capabilities & Skills Required

In order to take on these challenges, you’ll need to have:

o Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, biology, or related science.

o 0 - 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in Quality or microbiology laboratory is preferred.

o Ability to lift up to 30 pounds, and continuous exercise of manipulative skills, walking, and standing.

o Computer skills in data entry and processing such as using MS Word, Excel, and Power Point.

o Ability to conduct mathematical calculations.

The salary range for this position is $58,000.00 - $70,000.00.

Actual compensation will take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location, education, experience, qualifications and job-related skills. It is not typical for an individual to be hired above the midpoint of the range for their role and compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. Base pay is only one component of our total rewards offerings, and we will take the full offering into consideration when presenting an offer of employment. Our total rewards package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, Medical, dental and vision benefits, 401K match, and other wellness benefits.

Pharmavite provides compensation for all overtime hours worked by non-exempt (hourly) employees in accordance with state and federal law. The need to work overtime hours will be determined by management, based on customer and business necessity to meet the needs of our business, Pharmavite may require employees to work overtime.

Voluntary overtime requested by non-exempt employees must be approved in advance by the employee’s supervisor.
