Financial Controller

Minutemen Direct is recruiting for a Financial Controller on behalf of a well-established and growing manufacturing organization located in Streetsboro, Ohio. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial operations at the plant level while serving as a strategic business partner to the General Manager and corporate leadership.

We are seeking a hands-on finance leader with strong manufacturing and cost accounting expertise who thrives in a fast-paced production environment.

Position Overview

The Controller will manage the full spectrum of accounting operations including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, cost management, and compliance. This individual will play a critical role in driving operational efficiency, financial visibility, and long-term profitability.

This position reports directly to the General Manager and works closely with the corporate parent company.

Key Responsibilities of the Financial Controller

• Lead month-end close process and ERP module closing
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements
• Maintain general ledger integrity and oversee financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, annual)
• Drive cost accounting initiatives, set standards, and implement cost controls within manufacturing operations
• Develop cash flow modeling and financial forecasting
• Monitor profitability and recommend performance benchmarks
• Track capital and fixed asset reporting
• Partner with external auditors and banking institutions
• Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff
• Oversee credit decisions and collections
• Manage payroll processing, timekeeping, and routine HR functions
• Coordinate Workers’ Compensation reporting and annual BWC True Up
• Support accounts payable, cash applications, and weekly check runs
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate reporting requirements

Qualifications of the Financial Controller

• 7–10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
• Strong background in manufacturing and distribution environments
• Proven cost accounting expertise
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
• MBA or CPA preferred
• Experience with ERP systems (Business Central experience a plus)
• Advanced to expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills
