EHS Specialist
Job Description
Purpose of Position:
The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all site-level environmental, health, and safety programs. This role is accountable for championing a proactive safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering shared ownership of safety performance among employees and leaders. The EHS Specialist partners cross-functionally with production leadership, HR, and senior management to embed safety excellence into daily operations, continuous improvement initiatives, and long-term strategic objectives.

Skills and Requirements
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.

Minimum 3-5 years of progressive EHS experience, preferably in a manufacturing, industrial, or fast-paced operational environment.

Demonstrated hands-on experience managing and maintaining core EHS programs, including but not limited to:
o Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
o Hazard communication
o Environmental compliance and waste management
o Routine safety inspections and audits

OSHA 30 certification required

Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable state and local regulatory requirements.

Proven ability to operate independently while collaborating closely with EHS leadership and site management.

Experience working in fast-paced environments where EHS programs are actively evolving and scaling - routine programs

Willingness and ability to support shift overlap as needed, including occasional off-shift coverage to engage employees across operations.

Ability to lift to 30 pounds and safely perform job duties involving hazardous materials and environmental compliance activities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS management or reporting systems.

CSP, CHMM, CIH, or other relevant professional certifications.

Experience supporting Lean manufacturing, Kaizen events, or continuous improvement initiatives.

Prior experience serving as a site point of contact during regulatory inspections or audits.
