Job Title: Utility Person / Metal Processor

Position Summary:

A well-established steel fabrication and manufacturing company is seeking a dependable Utility Person / Metal Processor to join its production team. This is a hands-on role supporting multiple areas of the manufacturing process, with a primary focus on operating a plasma/laser cutting table and industrial saw equipment. The position is ideal for someone with a mechanical aptitude who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is willing to learn new skills.

The successful candidate will be trained on company-specific equipment and processes. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong work ethic, reliable attendance, and a desire to grow within a manufacturing operation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate plasma and laser cutting tables to process steel materials.
• Operate horizontal band saws and other cutting equipment.
• Read and interpret basic blueprints, drawings, and work orders.
• Measure materials accurately using a tape measure to 1/16-inch tolerances.
• Load, unload, and move materials throughout the facility using forklifts and overhead cranes.
• Supply raw materials to production areas and transport finished products.
• Assist with truck loading and unloading.
• Operate fabrication equipment including ironworkers, drills, presses, and related machinery.
• Assist with inventory control and material tracking.
• Perform product assembly, packaging, and preparation for shipment.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment.
• Support various production and manufacturing activities as business needs change.

Qualifications:

• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read a tape measure accurately to 1/16 inch.
• Basic blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
• Manufacturing or steel fabrication experience preferred.
• Experience operating forklifts, cranes, saws, or fabrication equipment is a plus.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work throughout the shift.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Excellent attendance and dependability are required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to workplace safety and safe operating practices.

Preferred Experience:

• Previous experience in steel fabrication, metal processing, or manufacturing.
• Familiarity with structural steel, tubing, channel, plate, and related materials.
• Experience operating plasma cutting, laser cutting, saws, or similar fabrication equipment.
