The Meigs County Clerk of Courts is accepting applications for a part-time and/or full-time Deputy Title/BMV Clerk. The applicant must be ambitious, quick learner, detail oriented, efficient and able to work amicably with the public, co-workers, and supervisor. This work requires high integrity, confidentiality and excellent customer service qualities. You are, in effect, working both for your neighbors and yourself while constantly improving your community. You are a public employee performing essential services for the people of Meigs County. Our county’s citizens are affected by your on-the-job performance and their opinions of our organization are directly influenced by your conduct. Qualified candidates must have high school diploma or equivalent, broad knowledge of office practices and procedures including computer keyboarding accuracy, analytical and organizational skills, and pleasant customer service. The position requires the ability to learn legal procedures for handling titles and vehicle registrations for the State of Ohio. The candidate must have the ability to maintain harmonious and respectful working relationships with the public and employees.

Entry pay range $13.00-$16.00 with career opportunities.

County benefits including leave, holidays, and OPERS (the State of Ohio Retirement Plan) are part of the total compensation plan.

Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm and Saturdays 8am-12:00pm.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING:

Under administrative direction, issue vehicle registrations, license plates, operator's licenses, motor vehicle and watercraft titles, memos, liens, and duplicate titles; collect fees and taxes; complete VIN inspections; files documents; balance cash drawer daily; issue boat registration, assist with passport applicant, work with car dealers and financial institutions on a daily basis, serve customers in a courteous and professional manner; other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

KNOWLEDGE AND CAPABILITIES:

1. Language skills – ability to effectively communicate with staff and other agencies

2. Computer skills - basic data entry

2. Must be able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with public and staff

3. Must be self-assured, trustworthy, and reliable

4. Have consistently regular attendance

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS WITH OR WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMODATION:

Ability to climb stairs, walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, identify colors, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, lift and carry and perceive depth.

Conditions include, working inside, working around machines with moving parts and moving objects, radiant and electrical energy, working closely with others, working alone, working protracted or irregular hours, traveling by car, van or bus.

Equipment (machines, tools, and devices) used in performing only the essential functions including computer and related equipment, copier, fax machine, digital camera and telephone.

Pay: $13.00 - $16.00 per hour
