Which challenge sounds like you?

1) Millwright: Keep equipment precise, aligned, and online

• Can you diagnose issues spanning hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics, and electricity?
• Will you overhaul clutches, bearings, cylinders, conveyors, and motors to extend life?
• Are you comfortable welding, brazing, soldering, and fabricating?
• Do you install, level, align, and relocate machinery with hoists, forklifts, and cranes?
• Could you build/maintain air, water, and coolant piping systems?
• Do you excel at PMs and recording work in computerized systems?
• Can you install and repair fixtures, switches, relays, breakers, motors, and power cables?
• Can you troubleshoot single- and three-phase circuits (120/208/240/480V)?
• Will you fabricate parts on lathes, mills, and grinders when needed?
• Are blueprints, schematics, and mechanical drawings second nature to you?
• Will you consistently follow safety procedures and standards?

Millwright profile: Journeyman Millwright or Maintenance Machine Repairer card—or equivalent experience. Strength in diagnostics; conveyors/boilers/high voltage; motor maintenance; blueprint/schematic fluency; forklift license (or ability to obtain company certification); able to lift 50 lbs and stand for long stretches.

2) Tool & Die Maker: Build and revive dies that hit ±.001"

• Can you locate, drill, tap, and mill to ±.001" using vertical mills with DROs?
• Do you machine complex pockets and shapes with indicators and edge finders?
• Are you confident drilling/milling hardened materials with carbide tooling?
• Can you turn shafts, shoulders, and V-threads on the lathe?
• Will you dress surface grinding wheels for intricate radii and angular forms?
• Can you grind flat and angled surfaces to sharp, clean intersections?
• Are you adept at lap fitting for press fits and die button draft?
• Will you build new dies or rebuild from engineering drawings?
• Do you resurface dies (sharpening, shut-height) to extend tool life?
• Can you write/modify complex Wire EDM programs with ordinate dimensions?
• Could you rebuild dies without drawings and document changes for engineering?
• Are you willing to coach apprentices and uphold shop and quality policies?

Tool & Die profile: Journeyman Tool & Die Maker card required—or commitment to complete an apprenticeship to earn it. Bring your own precision tools (micrometers, indicators, sine bar, parallels, die jacks, etc.). Strong blueprint/layout and measurement skills. Professional communication and approach.
