Fire Suppression Design Engineer

We are seeking a Fire Protection Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team in Harrison, OH. This position is open candidates with 2+ years of experience. You will be responsible for designing special hazard fire suppression and fire alarm systems that protect people, facilities, and critical assets.

This is a design-focused role with opportunities to participate in field activities, system commissioning, and continued professional development within the fire protection industry.

What You’ll Do

• Design life safety and asset protection systems using AutoCAD and proprietary design software
• Ensure designs meet local codes, national standards, and manufacturer requirements
• Review and apply customer project specifications to system designs
• Conduct job site visits to verify proper system design and installation
• Support contractors with guidance on installation and system operation
• Attend manufacturer training and continuing education courses
• Create and maintain project-specific operation and maintenance manuals
• Update and revise existing drawings as needed
• Assist with system startups, commissioning, inspections, and maintenance when required
• Support internal process improvements and general engineering tasks

What We’re Looking For

• Prior 2+ years of experience in the fire protection industry
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
• Experience in a design engineering or fire protection design role
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D drafting)
• Working knowledge of 3D design software
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to clearly communicate technical information
• Willingness to learn industry codes and standards
• Motivation to pursue and obtain NICET certification
