Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years' experience in a large hospital setting preferred License: Any state RN license accepted Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS preferred Must-Have: - EPIC experience - Ventilator experience - Ability to read and interpret EKG strips - Excellent critical thinking skills - Cardiac monitor interpretation skills Description: This is a high acuity, fast-paced step-down unit. The unit requires strong time management skills. There is a targeted patient ratio of 1:4, with the possibility of going up to 1:5-6. The patient population includes DKA, GI bleed, COPD, pneumonia, stroke, sepsis, and urology complications. Daily average census is approximately 31. Nursing responsibilities include managing ventilator and trach patients. Nurses will care for patients with chest tubes and drains as well as administer cardiac drips. Experience with high-risk respiratory patients is essential. Travelers are encouraged to float to various assignments as needed. Flexibility to work every other weekend and holiday is required. Lab work must be completed promptly, and a dysrhythmia exam is necessary prior to starting. Travelers will be expected to have strong skills in managing and interpreting critical care scenarios.
