Description
American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Critical Care Float Pool ICU position at a major academic medical center in Ohio, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and proficiency with Epic.
Details
- Critical Care Float Pool position within a large academic teaching hospital
- Nurses float across multiple ICU units based on staffing and patient acuity, including Neuro ICU, Surgical ICU, Medical ICU (MICU), CVICU, and NCCU
- Float assignments are limited to units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Weekend nights required (Friday and Saturday), plus one additional weeknight shift
- Epic EMR experience required
- Patient population includes complex, critically ill adults across cardiovascular, neurological, surgical, and medical specialties
Requirements
- Active OH RN license or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Prior travel experience required
- Teaching/academic hospital experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Proficiency with Epic required
- Required skills: IV starts, telemetry, and ventilator management
- Additional required skills include: arterial line management, central line care/management, blood product administration, PICC line management, care of ventilated patients, interpretation of ABGs, suctioning (ETT/NT), management of vasoactive and cardiac drips, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, CVA/acute stroke management, ICP monitoring, EVD management, IV insulin protocols, and management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
- Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required
- 2 professional references required: at least 1 from a manager, director, or formal leadership role; a Charge RN is acceptable as the 2nd reference; co-worker references are not accepted
Additional Information
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted prior to consideration and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
- Ohio state law requires fingerprinting; candidates must complete this process promptly after signing their contract — candidates outside Ohio within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location, while those farther away will receive a mailed packet to complete urgently
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
- Former employees of this health system are eligible after a minimum 6-month separation from the facility; current employees are ineligible
- Parking is available on-site for agency staff and can be purchased through the facility's campus parking system (multiple permit options available)
