Yard Person/General Laborer

Chappell and Zimmerman Inc. is currently seeking a self-motivated individual for our Yard Person/Genral Laborer position. Interested applicants should be punctual, must have a good driving record, be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and able to lift up to 100 pounds. Duties will include, but are not limited to: general labor, maintenance and operation of machinery and customer service. Basic math and communication skills are a plus. 40+ hours per week. Six paid holidays per year, after one year of employment. Vacation time after one year of employment. Partially company paid insurance after ninety days. Job Overview

• Load and unload materials using forklifts and other heavy equipment.
• Assist with order picking, shipping, and receiving processes.
• Maintain a clean, organized yard by sorting materials, stacking pallets, and ensuring clear pathways
• Conduct routine inspections of equipment such as forklifts and cranes, adhering to OSHA safety standards
• Support construction-related tasks including material handling and site organization as needed
• Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to ensure efficient inventory management and timely order fulfillment

Requirements

• Proven experience in warehouse distribution, shipping & receiving, or construction environments
• Ability to operate heavy equipment including forklifts, and pallet jacks.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations related to warehouse operations and heavy equipment use
• Physical ability to perform heavy lifting regularly and work in outdoor yard conditions
• Excellent teamwork skills with a proactive attitude toward safety and efficiency
