Regional Coordinator - Lay Distribution Network (Central Ohio)
Harm Reduction Ohio (HRO) is seeking a Regional Coordinator - Lay Distribution Network to support Harm Reduction Ohio's lay distribution efforts across Central Ohio.
This role leads and supports volunteer lay distributors, manages regional naloxone distribution activities, builds relationships with community partners, and helps expand access to harm reduction supplies, training, and outreach throughout the region.
This position operates within a harm reduction framework and works closely with lay distributors, local health departments, community partners, and HRO staff to strengthen regional coordination, improve naloxone saturation, and support program implementation across the assigned service area.
The role is part-time, hybrid and grant-funded.
Core Responsibilities
1. Program Building:
- Lead and manage a team of volunteer lay distributors within a specific region of Ohio.
- Provide training, guidance, and support to lay distributors.
- Recruit new lay distributors to expand the program's reach.
2. Travel and Relationship Building:
- Check and refill NaloxBoxes with harm reduction supplies across the region.
- Collaborate with local health departments and agencies to improve naloxone saturation and the availability of harm reduction services.
- Ensure activities and interactions reflect cultural sensitivity and competence, fostering an inclusive approach to harm reduction.
- Build positive relationships with HRO staff, lay distributors, harm reduction partners, funders, community members, local businesses, and governmental agencies.
3. Data and Reporting:
- Attend Ohio Department of Health (ODH) meetings related to naloxone and regional initiatives and needs.
- Prepare reports on lay distributor metrics and community feedback.
- Compile and submit detailed reports on naloxone distribution and project activities to the Project Director.
- Track program performance and identify areas for improvement.
4. Naloxone Distribution:
- Manage overall regional lay distribution of naloxone.
- Conduct assessments to identify underserved areas and populations.
- Develop strategies to address these gaps.
5. Communication and Outreach:
- Act as a liaison between regional lay distributors and central headquarters, ensuring clear communication.
- Organize and manage regional events and meetings with volunteers and lay distributors, fostering community engagement.
- Organize distribution events in each non-Project DAWN county within the region.
- Host naloxone training sessions for community members and potential lay distributors.
6. Program Implementation:
- Supervise the execution of harm reduction programs and initiatives within the region.
- Participate in online meetings with project staff to discuss progress and coordinate efforts.
- Attend and actively participate in team meetings, supervision, trainings, and collaborative planning to support program goals and organizational operations.
- Ensure programs adhere to HRO's mission and the principles of harm reduction.
7. Volunteer Coordination:
- Oversee volunteers in the assigned region.
- Delegate tasks, monitor performance, and provide training and support.
Required Qualifications
- Experience coordinating community-based programs, volunteers, outreach, public health, harm reduction, or related work.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage regional priorities independently and follow through on documentation and reporting requirements.
- Comfort providing training, guidance, and support to volunteers and community partners.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace/Google Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Docs, Sheets, Drive, and Calendar.
- Ability to use Microsoft Teams and Zoom for virtual meetings, trainings, and coordination with staff and partners.
- Strong typing, data entry, and written communication skills with attention to detail.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout assigned regions of Ohio.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of harm reduction principles and naloxone distribution.
- Familiarity with Ohio public health, community, or harm reduction service systems.
- Experience working with lay distribution networks or volunteer-driven programming.

Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Regular travel across Northwest Ohio, Southwest Ohio, and Central Ohio.
- Hybrid work structure with community-based, field-based, and administrative responsibilities.
- Participation in regional meetings, trainings, distribution events, and supply coordination activities.
- Routine computer-based work for reporting, scheduling, communication, and virtual meetings.
Hours: 15-20 hours per week.
Pay: $20-$22 per hour, depending on experience.
Benefits: 5% Paid Time Off accrued for every hour worked. Federal holidays off (11 days/year, paid).

HRO is Ohio’s largest distributor of the opioid overdose-reversing drug naloxone. We are a Project DAWN site and the only licensed lay distributor of naloxone in Ohio. HRO also holds conferences, works for policy changes, promotes syringe service programs, conducts trainings, analyzes data, and promotes public health. We also support and engage in outreach to stigmatized populations (such as people who are experiencing homelessness or engaged in sex work).
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
