Profee Coders (SYSTEMS - EPIC)
Job Responsibilities:
- ProFee" in the context of Epic EHR refers to Professional Fee coding, which focuses on billing and coding for services provided by physicians and other healthcare professionals in outpatient or office settings. It involves coding for the evaluation and management (E&M) services, procedures, and other services provided during patient encounters. Epic EHR integration with ProFee coding ensures accurate and efficient billing processes for healthcare providers.
- This term contrasts with facility coding, which focuses on the resources used by the facility (e.g., hospital) to treat a patient. ProFee coding, on the other hand, centers on the services provided by the individual healthcare professional.
- Epic is a popular electronic health record (EHR) system, and ProFee coding is often integrated with it. This integration streamlines the process of capturing charges, assigning codes (like CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS), and generating claims for reimbursement.
Skills:
- The client does not use an encoder therefore each code will need to have access to their coding books or an encoder
- Productivity is 120-150 charts per day.
Education/Experience:
- CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)
