Associate Attorney

About the job:

Atkins and Atkins is seeking a Litigation Associate to join our growing family law practice in Columbus, Ohio.

This position is ideal for an attorney who enjoys legal analysis, client interaction, strategic thinking, and meaningful involvement in litigation. The role offers substantial hands-on experience, direct client contact, courtroom exposure, and the opportunity to work closely with experienced litigators on complex domestic relations matters.

We are open to candidates with varying levels of experience, including newer attorneys looking for mentorship and professional development.

About the Role:

Associates at our firm are given meaningful responsibility and direct involvement in case strategy and progression. This is not a volume-based practice focused on processing files. We approach each case individually, with an emphasis on thoughtful analysis, preparation, and practical problem-solving.

Responsibilities include:

• Drafting pleadings, motions, memoranda, and correspondence

• Preparing for and attending hearings, mediations, and court proceedings

• Communicating directly with clients and opposing counsel

• Assisting with case strategy, litigation preparation, and legal analysis

• Managing case responsibilities with guidance and collaboration from senior attorneys

Qualifications:

• Licensed to practice law in Ohio

• Litigation experience preferred, but not required

• Strong writing, organizational, and analytical skills

• Ability to communicate professionally with clients and counsel

• Thoughtful judgment and attention to detail

• Interest in litigation and family law practice

Compensation:

• Base salary: $75,000–$100,000 depending on experience

• Performance-based bonus tied to collections and overall performance
