Battery Technician

This role is essential in supporting the reliability and performance of battery systems for Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems in critical environments. Responsibilities
- Assist with battery replacements and new installations for UPS systems.
- Support preventative and scheduled maintenance of battery systems with minimal disruption to customers.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site during all phases of work.
- Follow operational, maintenance, and emergency procedures to ensure safety and compliance.
- Interact effectively with internal teams and external customers to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Assist in the warehouse and support other service divisions (such as Switch Gear, Operations, HVAC) as needed.
- Utilize hand tools and general maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
- Work from schematic diagrams, sketches, and verbal instructions to complete tasks.
- Learn and assist with disconnecting and connecting sealed batteries, building battery racks, and installing spill containment systems.
- Enter test readings and collect data for reporting purposes using a laptop computer.
- Gain experience in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs on DC battery systems with increasing independence.
- Travel approximately 30% or more as required for service assignments.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Services Management.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of or willingness to learn AC/DC theory, electronic components, and circuitry.
- Ability to safely operate department equipment and use hand tools.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Willingness to complete training on digital multimeters, amp clamps, flexible CTs, and battery testing equipment.
- Understanding of or willingness to learn battery string connections (series, parallel, series-parallel) and installation best practices.
- OSHA 10-hour certification and NFPA-70E Safety Training (or willingness to obtain).
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
