SUMMARY
TURNER, a national communications firm specializing in lifestyle, travel, hospitality, spirits, wellness, and outdoor brands; is seeking a Senior Director, Social Media responsible for day-to-day leadership, planning and strategic recommendations across a number of travel and lifestyle accounts.
This role is designed for a senior digital leader with 8 - 10 years’ experience (agency preferred) who understands how social, creators, content, paid amplification and earned media work together to drive real brand and business impact. You’ll be responsible for shaping integrated digital strategies, managing and mentoring a team of specialists, strengthening client relationships and owning end-to-end digital execution from strategy through performance optimization. In addition to client leadership, this role plays a key part in new business development, division growth, and future-facing capability building including translating data, insights, and platform trends into repeatable frameworks and scalable offerings.
This position requires the flexibility to travel up to 20%, as needed.
This hybrid role must be based in New York City, NY, Denver, CO, Chicago, IL, or Columbus, OH requiring two days per week in office working alongside our team

Specific responsibilities may include:
- Manages portfolio of lifestyle and travel brands, serving as the lead client contact on contracts, scope and strategy
- Engages in and ensures a strategic relationship with clients, providing insight and partnership across all aspects of the communications spectrum
- Builds division by bringing in new clients that fit within the portfolio
- Manages team to ensure strategy and execution leads to optimal results and client satisfaction including setting clear performance standards, reviewing work quality, and developing talent across paid, social, and creator disciplines
- Communicates account performance internally and provides strategic advice to the client based on measurable analysis
- Identifies key trends and bringing big, integrated campaign thinking to clients
- Directs social media and influencer strategy and identifies ways to integrate digital tactics into earned communications strategies, ensuring cohesion across paid, owned, and earned channels
- Works collaboratively with all divisions to increase the utilization and selling of integrated services
- Plays an integral role in the senior management team, ensuring account profitability and optimizing the impact of revenues on the business
- Works with agency leadership team to drive development and growth for capabilities with an eye on future of industry such as creator monetization models, platform-native commerce, and AI-enabled workflows
- Prepares proposed scopes of work and pricing for new and ongoing business
- Manages budgets and partner relationships with discipline and transparency, negotiating scopes, fees, and resources to maximize impact while protecting margins
- Oversees client UGC programs from budgeting to execution alongside team ensuring content is on brand, on time and in budget
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- A bachelor’s degree and minimum of 8 years of experience working on social strategies + digitally led campaigns
- Proven knowledge of social platforms and how unique communities, influencers, and audiences are using them
- Demonstrated collaboration skills. Works effectively in a team environment; can be flexible and willing to jump in to help in various roles within the social media team
- Excels at managing relationships, both internally and externally
- Is comfortable presenting internally and externally, whether an idea for a campaign or result from a report
- Possesses excellent writing skills, with a strong attention to detail
- Highly organized and able to juggle multiple accounts in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working in a creative team and can think big. Consistently brings new ideas to the table
- Proven ability managing paid social and paid creator amplification in partnership with paid media teams
- Proactive problem solver who knows when to ask the right questions
- Experience with social commerce, affiliate, or creator-led performance programs
- Familiarity with content distribution, platform partnerships, or creator whitelisting programs
- Technical or creative skills such as photography, videography, SEO, analytics, or emerging AI-driven tools
