As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a crucial role in the lives of the participants who attend our programs. DSP Responsibilities:

• Provide supervision and guidance to participants while maintaining appropriate staff-to-participant ratios.
• Assist in structuring activities that are important to the person and for the person in accordance with each participants' goals
• Assist with daily living activities, including preparing lunch meals/snacks and assisting with personal hygiene.
• Develop a rapport with participants to cultivate a positive, safe and supportive relationship.
• Document participant progress notes, attendance, and goals on a daily basis.
• Transport participants to and from community outings while ensuring their safety and comfort.
• Participate in activities and community outings with enthusiasm and encourage the participants to try new things that may be of interest to them.
• Teach participants life skills that promote independence such as money management, appropriate behaviors, social skills, building healthy relationships, anger management etc.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment by completing all cleaning tasks assigned daily.
• All other tasks as deemed necessary by management

Skills:

• Proficient use of technology: Ability to use different software applications to read ISP plans, document goals, attendance, and progress on a daily basis.
• Experience working with diverse populations: Ability to adapt instruction to meet the needs of participants from various backgrounds and abilities
• Classroom management: Strong classroom management skills to create a structured and supportive learning environment
• Effective communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with colleagues and managers.
• Comfortable driving and maneuvering a commercial transit van.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
High School Diploma, GED or suitable equivalent

Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and be on your feet for up to 8 hours a day.

Maintain a current driver’s license and good driving record with less than five points

Pass a criminal background check and all exclusion list checks as required by DODD

Pass a drug test
