Purchasing/Materials Associate

A manufacturing company is seeking a Purchasing/Materials Associate to join their team. * * You will work Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Responsibilities:**
- **Manage purchasing and material control transactions, inventoried items, supplier relationships, and coordinate manufacturing of all products
- **Qualify and develop new suppliers of processes and products, as needed
- Be accountable for inventory levels, perpetual vs actual accuracy, timely material allocations, and supplier on time delivery
- Manage business systems related to purchasing, inventory, forecasting, and learning, and using the company's business systems
- Create and expedite purchase orders
- Answer phone calls, emails, and follow-up with suppliers
- **Handle shipping and receiving, including international shipping
- **Utilize forklift, manage inventory and warehouse, and lift up to 60 pounds
- **Use Microsoft Office and MRP
- **Understand material forecasts, allocations, and other electronic transfers of material
- **Manage minimum and maximum safety stocks
- **Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED with related work experience in mechanical products and materials in a manufacturing assembly environment
- **Must have prior purchasing, supply chain, production planning, buying metal fabrications, machined parts, managing inventory levels, and accuracy and warehousing experience
- **Must have knowledge of purchasing methods and procedures, a working knowledge of sources of supplies, price trends, and grades or quality of materials and equipment
- **Must have a mechanical background which includes understanding material specifications
- **Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, create purchase orders, understand material forecasts, allocations, and other electronic transfers of material, as well as, MRP experience
- Must have good communication skills, ability to work with other company personnel and outside suppliers
- Must have a willingness to identify and solve problems and to contribute to a healthy company environment while being focused on customer service, teamwork, and continued improvement
- Must have the ability to analyze and make purchasing decisions accordingly
- Must be able to maintain complex purchasing and inventory records
- Must have the ability to multi-task, be organized, and pay a high attention to detail
