Job Summary/Basic Function
Completes pre- and post-award processes to ensure equitable access to education by evaluating financial need, determining eligibility, and facilitating the timely distribution of funds in accordance with institutional, state, and federal regulations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate assessment, processing, and administration of financial aid before and after funds are offered.

Covers the full financial aid cycle, from initial offer determination to post-disbursement. Maintains in-depth knowledge of financial aid program policies and procedures, including regulations and software programs. Must exercise great attention to detail when completing assignments, as errors in judgment or calculations could result in unintended consequences for the student and/or the institution, such as under- or over-funding of a student, loss of student eligibility, audit findings, fines, damage to the school's reputation, or loss of institutional eligibility.

Minimum Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED and four years (FT) of related work experience, OR two years of post-secondary education and two years of (FT) related work experience, OR a bachelor's degree in a related field and one year (FT) of related work experience.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, especially Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills and decision-making abilities.
• Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with a customer-centric approach to service and delivery.

Essential Functions and percent of time
45% Administer Loan Programs

• Certify, originate, and adjust loan offers following all applicable rules and regulations.
• Export and import loan files between external software programs.
• Execute internal reports to monitor and adjust loan records following all federal, institutional, and private policies and procedures.

45% Analyze and Process Applicant Data

• Process and analyze FAFSA applications. This includes ensuring compliance, data integrity, resolving conflicting information, and tracking applications through completion.
• Verify accuracy by reviewing FAFSA data for inconsistencies and ensuring compliance with federal regulations.
• Determine, review, and resolve student aid eligibility issues by reviewing ISIR comments and post-screen codes.
• Advise students on the complex loan limit resolution process that involves coordination with Federal Student Loan servicers.
• Complete transfer student monitoring to ensure students stay within their annual student aid eligibility.
• Complete student requests for aid adjustments. Ensure adjustments align with all applicable rules and regulations.
• Adjust student accounts based on changes in enrollment.

10% Other Duties

• Contributes to the formulation, development, and implementation of policies and procedures that ensure consistency and equity in the delivery of financial aid programs; Updates annual financial aid forms used to document and determine student financial aid eligibility
• Serve as a resource to our financial aid customer service team.
• Serve as a resource to students with escalated financial aid circumstances that require a subject matter expert.
• Provide effective and professional communication with students to explain financial aid determinations and request necessary documentation.
• Learn and maintain knowledge of federal, state, and institutional regulations and associated software.
• Maintain records in accordance with our record retention policy. This includes scanning and indexing documents.
• Provide financial aid training and interpret/report financial aid records to internal and external constituents.
