Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a dependable and safety-focused Shear Catcher to join our team in Evendale on 1st shift. This is a steady Monday–Friday position with minimal overtime.

The Shear Catcher plays a critical role in production and safety. This position is located at the back end of the shear machine, where steel parts exit onto a conveyor. The Shear Catcher (often seated) catches the steel pieces as they come off the conveyor and stacks them neatly onto a skid for forklift transport.

This is an extremely safety-sensitive role that requires constant awareness, attention to detail, and good hand dexterity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Catch steel parts as they exit the shear conveyor

• Stack parts neatly and securely onto skids for transport

• Maintain a clean and safe work area around the shear and conveyor

• Follow all safety procedures and operating instructions

• Demonstrate understanding of equipment controls

Safety Requirements:

• Wear gloves in good condition at all times due to sharp edges and corners

• Keep the shear and conveyor area clean and organized

• Clean up any oil or pre-lube on the floor immediately

• Report and ensure process leaks are repaired

• Avoid pinch points — never place hands in belt or chain areas

• Do not position any part of your body where it may be struck or caught by moving parts

• Follow all Gold Medal lockout/tagout procedures

• When removing scrap, always pull the scrap bin away from the conveyor to avoid pinch points

• Strong attention to safety and awareness of surroundings

• Good hand dexterity

• Ability to remain attentive throughout the shift

• Ability to follow directions and safety procedures
