Part-Time Dance Instructor and Choreographer

Job Title: Competitive Dance Team Instructor/Choreographer (Middle & High School Level)

About Us:
Lyn’s Academy of Dance is entering its 33rd season of training and inspiring dancers in the Lima community. We are a well-established, values-driven studio known for strong technique, meaningful choreography, and a supportive, team-centered environment.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and passionate dance teaching artist to work with our middle and high school competitive/company team . This instructor will lead weekly rehearsals, choreograph competition pieces, and help develop well-rounded, confident dancers.

This is a once-weekly commitment on Monday and/or Wednesday evenings (flexible scheduling).

Travel Information:
We welcome candidates within driving distance of Lima, OH.
Travel reimbursement is available (up to 90 miles) for the right candidate (Dayton, Toledo, Columbus, etc.).

Responsibilities:

• Teach and rehearse high school-level competitive dancers
• Choreograph original routines for competition and performance
• Foster strong technique in jazz, contemporary/modern, and lyrical
• Create a positive, motivating, and disciplined rehearsal environment
• Collaborate with studio leadership to support team goals and culture

Qualifications:

• Strong technical background in jazz, contemporary/modern, and lyrical (ballet foundation preferred)
• Prior teaching and/or choreography experience (competitive experience strongly preferred)
• Ability to work with high school dancers of varying skill levels
• Strong communication, leadership, and classroom management skills
• Creative, reliable, and professional

Preferred (but not required):

• Degree or certification in dance or a related field
• Certifications such as RAD, ABT, or Acrobatic Arts
• First Aid/CPR certification

Compensation:

• Competitive pay (based on experience)
