State Tested Nursing Assistant
The State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) provides direct patient care and assistance with daily living activities to residents in a nursing home setting. Under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, the STNA ensures the physical and emotional well-being of residents is maintained in a safe, clean, and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
- Measure and record vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
- Turn, reposition, and transfer residents to prevent pressure injuries and ensure comfort.
- Assist with mobility, ambulation, and use of assistive devices.
- Monitor and report changes in residents' physical or mental conditions to nursing staff.
- Maintain residents' rooms and common areas in clean, orderly condition.
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and resident rights protocols.
- Accurately document care provided in accordance with facility policy.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to residents.
- Assist with intake and output monitoring and collection of specimens as needed.
- Participate in care plan meetings and staff training sessions.
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
- Current STNA certification in the state of Ohio
- Previous experience in a long-term care or nursing home setting (preferred)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team
- Physical ability to lift, move, and support patients
Work Environment:
- Long-term care/nursing home facility
- May require standing and walking for long periods
- Exposure to infectious diseases and bodily fluids
- Shift work including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
