Asphalt laborer

Job Summary:
The Asphalt Laborer is responsible for executing manual tasks on job sites, providing support, and ensuring the smooth progress of projects.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
· Perform various manual tasks such as digging, lifting, carrying, and moving materials.
· Help prepare the job site by clearing obstacles and addressing potential hazards.
· Transport, handle, and manage construction materials, tools, and equipment.
· Assist in loading and unloading materials from trucks.
· Provide support to skilled workers such as Operators, Flaggers, etc.
· Maintain a clean and organized construction site.
· Properly dispose of waste and debris according to safety and environmental guidelines.
· Report any safety hazards, incidents, or issues promptly
· Maintain constant awareness of the construction site and surroundings, including equipment and worker safety.
· In-person attendance is required.
Position Type: Seasonal, Full-Time
Other Required Duties and Responsibilities:
· Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and tolerate noise, odors, and exposure to construction-related elements.
· Capable of standing, walking, bending, stooping, and crouching for extended periods.
· Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting to 50 pounds frequently and 150 pounds with assistance.
· Must handle construction materials, tools, and equipment with manual dexterity.
· Work on uneven surfaces and in varying weather conditions.
· Periodically exposed to high noise levels, grease, dust, and chemicals (gasoline, diesel, etc.).
· Willingness to work long hours, including nights and weekends as needed.
· Perform any other tasks or projects assigned by the team to support the department's goals.

· Ability to adapt to changing tasks and responsibilities based on project needs.
· Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
· Willingness to learn, with a positive attitude, dependability, and strong teamwork.
· Represent The Gerken Companies to customers in a professional manner, supporting the company’s goals.
· Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members.
Education and Experience:
· Education equivalent to graduation from an accredited high school is required.
· Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment is preferred.
