Job Description

Oracle AI Data Platform unites industry-leading foundational models with governed enterprise data to enable developers to rapidly and easily build their enterprise lakehouse, AI agents, and applications, and business users to effortlessly use agentic experiences to transform their business.

AI Data Platform team is seeking an experienced Director of Software Engineering to lead key initiatives that accelerate development and adoption of key data platform capabilities.

In this role, you will drive the design, development, and integration of state-of-the-art technologies for data engineering that enable large scale AI enabled enterprise. You will lead the design, development and operation of data connectivity frameworks and implement functionality such as zero-copy ETL and data ingestion. You will collaborate with stakeholders across product, engineering, and science to shape the AI Data Platform's roadmap and deliver differentiated value to enterprise customers and partners. You should be able to function well in a large geographically distributed team and have the hunger to drive for impactful results on established schedules while maintaining sanity for themselves and their team.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities

  • Build and lead a high-impact engineering team dedicated to developing and operationalizing data connectivity and ingestion technologies for large scale data processing using big data compute engines including Spark

  • Define and execute the vision for connectivity framework, including key functionality such as zero-copy ETL

  • Evaluate, architect, and integrate emerging data engineering and management technologies -assessing their relevance, maturity, and impact on AI Data Platform.

  • Establish best practices for scalable, secure, and robust deployment of data services, ensuring seamless integration with Oracle's cloud and application ecosystem.

  • Shape technical strategy and influence the platform roadmap by translating market and customer requirements into actionable engineering plans.

  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with product, engineering, science, and enterprise customers to prototype and validate innovative workflows.

  • Drive pilots and joint initiatives with strategic customers and partners to accelerate adoption of Oracle's AI Data Platform offerings.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience leading technical innovation teams in cloud data platforms, or large-scale infrastructure environments.

  • Deep technical expertise in big data systems like Spark or equivalent data management technologies enabling large scale data pipelines.

  • Knowledge and experience with SQL querying, data processing, and database technologies.

  • Demonstrated track record of delivering complex, high-impact features or platforms from concept to customer adoption and operational stability.

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to balance strategic vision with operational execution and customer needs.

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels including with enterprise customers.

  • Experience setting the technical direction and driving end-to-end engineering solutions in partnership with cross-functional teams

  • Experience building, coaching, mentoring and developing geographically distributed teams.

  • 10+ years of engineering or technical leadership experience, with significant recent experience in cloud data infrastructure development and operations.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences or equivalent.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $122,500 to $291,800 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
