Cashier (TEMPORARY) (Vacancy)

: Definition The Department of Public Service, Division of Mobility and Parking Services is accepting applications for part-time temporary Cashiers for additional support of the business office staff. Responsibilities include data input for CPD tickets and returned mail, permit approvals, ticket reviews, and scanning. Work hours may vary based on operational need and availability. These positions are limited to 480 hours worked in a rolling 12 month period. Under general supervision, is responsible for receiving utility payments, licenses, municipal taxes, parking infraction fees, and other miscellaneous fees owed to the City of Columbus; performs related duties as required. Examples of Work (Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all of the duties that may be performed.) Accepts payments consisting of cash, check, or credit cards and makes appropriate change; Processes payments for utility bills, licenses, municipal taxes, parking infraction fines, and other miscellaneous fees; Balances cash drawers with receipts; operates a remittance control receipting type machine; Performs basic mathematical computations; corrects errors found in figures or calculations; operates a calculator and/or adding machine; Confers with customers; answers questions and complaints submitted by the public; Investigates problems concerning payments; initiates and/or prepares various reports; Inputs, updates, and/or retrieves information via a computer terminal; Posts payments to information system from insurance third party payers; Maintains a complex filing system of scheduled court hearings, bills, parking tickets, impounded vehicles, and correspondence; May communicate with individuals who have limited English language skills; May prepare daily deposit. Minimum Qualifications Completion of the twelfth school grade and one (1) year of general office or cash handling experience.
